Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the bright and morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart
Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are
I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours
Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
and watch me rise again
Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me
It’s the last day of 2008. Time to make endless resolutions? Yup, they are already in my diary. Haa. Next? I have mixed feelings with regards to the coming of 2009. It marks the last semester in NIE and a new beginning to another environment when I get posted to a school to formally commence teaching. Will miss all my friends who stood by me for the past few years. Then, the concerns start to pour in. Will there be poignant politics ahead? Arduous tasks in school? Scheming colleagues? Haha. These are beyond my control so I can only begin praying for the best according to His definition. Trusting our omnipotent God can never go wrong! There are so many things to thank God for…
TomSumJo – You give me a glimpse of God’s unconditional love and I still wonder at times how in the world I managed to have treasures like you. Yes, am writing with a blurry sight as tears well up in my eyes. Yeah, the ultra emotional side of me is emerging again. Thank you for all the time you have spent on and with me. Am not good with words but you know how much you mean to me…
Aunt Ruby (not forgetting my dear cousins, Krystal and Esther) – The aunt closest to me since the genesis of Gillian? Thanks for all the sharing and prayers. Thanks for all the reminders to ‘stay on the right path’ and ‘walk in the destiny’. Thanks for being a prominent and motherly figure in my life.
Rus – As we are attending different churches now, the periodic gatherings are a real blessing as we share our deepest secrets and catch up on what have been going on in our lives. You may not know but your fervour for the Lord is infectious!
Marie – One my ‘bestest’ buddy in NIE. Your company means a lot to me and I believe it wasn’t an accident sitting next to you years back in the Science laboratory. It takes effort to maintain any relationship and guess what? We made it!
Ching – The seriously funny and blur gal in weird times. Haha. I miss our cycling adventures in Yishun and Sembawang. I love our meaningful as well as amusing conversations. More badminton practices?
Shuxin, Sylvia and Mich Heng – We grew closer surprisingly after the crossover. Will always reminisce about the hilarious times spent in the school canteen, café and Mindcafe. KTV again?
Mich (Tan) and Ernita – Call it a package but girls are often in groups so we are all linked up. Crazy people are meant to be together! Thanks for all the fun and laughter as you spice up my life!
There are just so many relatives and friends whom I am thankful for. Dage – always loving me like a real bro. Danny – all the JB trips and shopping. Uncle – a friend close at heart. AK – for being so inspiring in endless ways. Ah Drew – a person whom I can always bully without guilt. Pearlyn – for seasoning life at NIE. Sunshine club (Mich Tong, Ray, Kei, Didar, Kuen, XY etc.) – believe I am one of the oldest member there? Grace – one of my most adorable grown-up students. Phemie – a godly woman whom I can always text for prayer requests. Er Niang – one of my precious oldest primary school friends. The list goes on and on. Yup, like the famous ‘My Heart Will Go On’. Most importantly, I want to thank God for His faithfulness, mercy, grace, love… … He sees me through my sorrows, fears and pain.
Singing ‘Time To Say Goodbye’ to 2008 as I usher in a fruitful 2009! A blessed New Year to all!

Girls are girls! Had so much fun at Marie's place today. Lee Ching, Michelle, Ernita and I were there for steamboat. The amount of food was great - Ching was nice enough to buy different types of balls because I am rather terrified of yong tau fu. Marie prepared the soup, vegetables, fish, crabmeat, egg toufu etc. Mich made Japanese Chicken Curry. I got Strawberry and Chocolate eclairs while Erni bought ice-cream and love letters. The drama queen was also at work. Trust me, I am not like this all the time. I think I was so high I started moving and twisting whenever the 'right' music was played. Okay, I have to give some credits to what I have been learning for bollywood dancing. I must salute Erni and Ching for laughing so loudly, and Marie and Mich for staying pretty cool whenever I did crazy stunts. We also played Game of Life and had desserts after that. Recorded a few hilarious clips and a more 'normal' one. Looking for some entertainment? Try the two clips below!
Performed by Marie (the pianist), Ching, Mich, Erni and Gil - A Whole New World!
Performed by Gil and Erni - Shakabonbon!
Conclusion? I love gatherings! Yes, more than shopping! In fact, I was so glad I attended Er Niang's (primary school friend) and Ah Ma's solemnisation - caught up with secondary school friends and realised quite a number are teachers! Time really flies, yah? Had dinner with Rus last night (and she was telling me about adorable Alvin's testimony) and bumped into Shanty. Faithful friends are truly treasures!
With gorgeous Er Niang - am so happy that she is finally with Ah Ma for good...
With Yibao - he never failed to tease me when we were schooling together...
Angelic Rus and her insurmountable feat - finishing the Mango Snow Ice!
Not to worry, I am there to help...
With sweet Shanty - one of the few extrinsic motivations for me to go back to APS...
Suddenly, I received a piece of news from a dear friend and realised we lost an extremely brilliant educator. It's scary what politics and favoritism are capable of doing! Am feeling very sad and uneasy but I believe everything will turn out well for him eventually because all things work for good for him who is called according to His purpose. I'll be praying for him for sure. He is a strong man and God will be his vindicator and protector! Wonder if I can help in any way... ... *sigh* It's so difficult to trust God in difficult times but His faithfulness and grace never fail!

This year’s Christmas celebrations are one of the best in my life so far – attended two family celebrations and one with the Sunshine Club.
TomSumJo invited me to their family party in the late afternoon on Christmas Eve and I got to meet a few of Tommy’s siblings. The Sunshine Club had intended to have a BBQ that evening before counting down but the rain made it impossible. However, all things worked for good when we settled at TomSumJo’s cosy home for another round of party. Yvonne couldn’t join us because she was sick, but this gem prepared the fruits nonetheless. Xinying, Zaya, Ben, Mich, Ra, Kong, Kuen, Kenneth and Nicky were there too! Sharon busied herself with grilling all the uncooked food meant for the BBQ and we had a feast of sausages, kebabs, chicken wings, fried rice, honeydew sago, chips, watermelons etc. Most of the food were whipped up by Ra – amazing! The chicken nuggets I contributed were Sharon’s and Kuen’s favourite – nuggets tasted equally delicious grilled! I could only rave about the potato salad Sharon made (and I am not the kind who goes for gan dung). We sang a few Christmas carols and a few of us caught Coffin after that. I was the last to leave around three plus in the morning. Thanks to Tommy, I got home safely…
Christmas was spent at Aunt Monica’s condominium at Hume Avenue. As usual, there was a sumptuous feast when mum cooked yam paste with lotus seeds, broccoli and fried mee sua. Aunt Tina prepared curry vegetables, curry chicken and wu xiang. Aunt Monica made braised chicken wings and cold desserts. I believe the food were meant for fifty adults as we ate for lunch and dinner, with leftovers to bring home. Trust me, this is the norm for our family gatherings! Haven’t seen Tyler for so long and he is already two! The lovely toddler was just sitting independently and quietly munching away while the rest of the older children had fun with toys and games. They even went swimming while I became the nanny and photographer. Colin is also back from Melbourne for a short holiday. Cindy Jie Jie (I know it’s weird for an aunty to address another this way) was there with her three princesses and Jonah was there too! It has been so long since we have such a heartwarming gathering and I left reluctantly in a cab with mum and dad…
I get it... a true Manchester United fan...
With lovely Tyler... he is so cute and adorable that I can't keep my hands off him...
Esther, all dolled up and ready for Christmas caroling on Christmas Eve... call this 'the nerd and the princess' shot?
Received a number of presents and these are a few of my favourites...
From TomSumJo - they gave me many other gifts and the most precious of all? The relationship and friendship we share...
From Ra... missing Kei, Jerome and Didar at the party...
From Ben and Mich... I know, it's my favourite colour!
From Aunt Ruby and family... and there is a purple flower!
From Aunt Monica... I don't really fancy bracelets but this is soooooo beautiful!
From Eric... and I can't bear to use it!
Yummy potato salad made with love by Sharon...
BLESSED CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND A FRUITFUL 2009 AHEAD!

Brought dad for dim sum buffet at Dragon Gate Restaurant. Sharon, Jo, Aunt Ruby, Krys and Esther joined us too. Justin felt that it was pricey (I didn't realise that they have increased the price) given the quality of food and service. Am still very much in love with the red bean paste and lotus seeds but I don't think I will patronise the restaurant again - the food served were lukewarm and service was slow.
Wanted to take Esther posing like the reindeer but managed to catch Jo in a rather weird position. Wonder what was going on in his mind but this dear godson of mine is super imaginative. Perhaps he was pretending to be Superman?
Visited Liyan and her lovely toddler, Yang Yang. Haven’t seen her in years and we had a wonderful time catching up while Yang Yang stole glances and smiled at this new stranger. He has Liyan’s dimples and forehead but I still think he resembles Zhanbao to a greater extent. Liyan’s also expecting another baby girl. I guess I can still drop by since they live really near to Jurong Point. Haa.
My new nail colour - all ready for Christmas! Can't wait for the BBQ Christmas Eve Party and Family Christmas Gathering.
Went for KTV on a Friday night with Ching, Albert and his girlfriend. This time round, he had more exotic poses. I didn't know he can imitate Alex To as well - talented!
Ching and I were entertaining ourselves as the music continued to play...
Ching was totally awake when we started singing though she was almost dozing off during dinner. Two hours of badminton in the afternoon was draining?
Finally, the nut and his sweet girlfriend.
Finally finished Miss No Good. Although the ending was a little silly, I enjoyed it. Don't think such story plots are realistic but I just want to humour myself. Was irritatingly imitating the main character's speech while Ching, Marie, Sylvia and Michelle were entertained while we played badminton. Huhu... ...
Felt that the Christmas drama by CEFC wasn't clear in conveying the message. Was discussing with TomSum and am looking forward to another by CHC. Christmas isn't Christmas, till it happens in your heart. Somewhere deep inside you is where Christmas really starts...
You can live your whole life and never know who you are until you see the world through the eyes of others...

Desperately searched for London Chocolate Rolls and finally managed to get them in Jusco. Not that delicious but I must admit they are handy as snacks.
I love the steamed yam cakes (with a generous amount of yam and dried shrimps) at Koufu near my place. The bonus? They are purple!
Have been sleeping around four in the morning (not that I want to) and am thinking of ways and means to make myself sleep better. Gosh! Tough job?
Am happy with my results (not that they are fabulous) given that I was busy with five tuition assignments and had a terrible timetable last semester. Everything will end soon…
Xin, Mich, Marie and I had a vigorous discussion on the types of guys we dislike. Stingy, ungentlemanly, abusive, insensitive, whiney and egoistic males are catastrophic.
“Giving birth is prolonged stomachache”? How about “Try giving birth to a watermelon”? Heard these today - totally hilarious!
Am going to meet Popo soon! Miss her soooooo much! She is one of my dearest friends from secondary school days. Yes, I am sentimental…
I love this song by MercyMe – I Can Only Imagine. Indeed, I can only imagine...
I can only imagine what it will be like
When I walk by your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
When your face is before me
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
Surrounded by your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you Jesus,
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence,
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Halelluja,
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
I can only imagine when that day comes
And I find myself standing in the Son
I can only imagine when all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
Surrounded by your glory,
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you Jesus,
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence,
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Halelluja,
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine, yeah
I can only imagine
I can only imagine, yeah, yeah, yeah

Mich, Xin, Marie and I really guffawed through the games at MindCafe. Okay, we had a short session on cam whoring and I like this - imitating mice! Hohoho. Took many more pictures and Tommy said I am the best acting queen. Think I am more like a drama queen! Can't help it - I can be very drama mama depending on my mood and situations. This is a trait of people whose temperament is that of a melancholic... =D
Long hands are made for times like this? I wonder what were going on in the minds of those passerbys when they witnessed four females posing outside PS. *_*
Love this - one classic pose for TV addicts! And why was Mich peeping? That was the bed on which I suffered as well as enjoyed a sleepless night with Sum and Jo...
My precious Jo was genuinely yawning while I happened to capture this shot. Amazing!
Brought Krys and Esther to the zoo and I simply love this pic... They really love it there at the Rainforest Kidzworld. I want to join them in getting wet the next time I bring them there! Aiya... then who is going to take all the pics???
Had a great time playing badminton with Marie and Ching today. It was Ching's first attempt but I must say she did quite well. We also took pictures in the changing room while cooling down. Hohoho. Can't wait for next Wednesday's session!
Watched the last episode of Forensic Heroes - as usual, happy ending. What's coming up next? Or should I start tuning my biological clock back to normal? Been sleeping past two in the morning these few days... better turn in early today because I have tuition tomorrow morning. Urgh...

My darling, nicely wrapped up?
I asked Krystal a rather silly question recently – will she still go out with me when she has grown up and I have grown old. Haha. She smiled so sweetly at me and nodded her head shyly. Been out with Krys and her family frequently recently – went to Suntec, the airport, Zoo (the Rainforest Kidzworld is lots of fun) and RafflesCity. Had a sumptuous dinner with TomSumJo, Ra, Mich, Ben, Nicky, Kuen and Jerome (took a few ghostly pictures of myself) at Shokudo. Also went swimming with Marie and Ching at the Singapore Polytechnic Guild. Bought myself a new racket and played badminton twice with Marie. Got back from JB on Sunday after a short break with TomSumJo and a few others from Sunshine Club. Punked XX and felt terribly guilty about it but they told me it was for the better. I truly hope so. Had my nails done – pretty! Went marketing with mum and got frightened by jumping prawns. Hehe. Also went to Mustafa with bro at midnight yesterday. I thought I had much fun bickering with him. Enjoyed the dim sum (terribly early breakfast) we had before coming back home. Contemplating bringing dad for dim sum buffet instead of seafood buffet next week. Can’t wait to catch up with dage and Si En. ACL is pregnant and her precious boy is going to be a March baby like me! Cool! Siti gave birth to a healthy baby. Who is going to be next? Looks like I am just blabbering… Haa…
It was painfully unforgettable. He fist came fast and furious in the pitch dark room and I could only smile after being hit by him. Who wouldn’t? After all, he was soundly asleep and Sharon had warned me beforehand that Jojo is vigorous even when in Lalaland. Hoho. My first experience sleeping next to my godson is definitely memorable. Imagine opening your eyes and staring straight into his diaper!
I was in love, got out of it and it’s slowly creeping back! Been having almond coffee, strawberry coffee, green tea coffee, white coffee etc. and caffeine is losing its effect in my body! My gastric hasn’t been obedient recently so I really have to distance myself from this heavenly beverage. *sad* Goodbye, my love!
I can’t wait for KTV. Want to cycle as well. Need to fix my dental appointment. Have yet to meet Pearlyn. Oh, and those lesson plans for first half of the year. Looks like there is no way to run…
